Why has my car air con system stopped working?
In order for an air conditioning system to work efficiently, it must produce the correct pressures on both the high side and the low side.
Any obstruction inside the air conditioning system can create excessive pressures on the high side and extremely low pressures on the low side. When the pressures are not within specification, the air conditioning system will not cool efficiently, if at all. Blockages can be detected by connected gauges to both the high and the low sides of the air conditioning system. Normally blockages are found in the condenser and the expansion device. Automotive Electrical Designs have the right tools and technical expertise to test your car air con for any blockages and quickly repair any faults to ensure proper functionality and long-term efficiency of your vehicle air conditioning system. |
Why is my car air con leaking?
The air conditioning condenser is made up of a series of tubes and fins usually made of aluminum; it looks and functions just like the vehicle's radiator.
The condenser has an inlet and an outlet for the circulation of the Freon gas. The purpose of the condenser is to remove heat from the refrigerant. As the hot gas passes through the air cooled tubes, the gas condenses into a liquid. The condenser is located in the front of the vehicle and is vulnerable to foreign objects that can hit and puncture it. Freon is able to leak from any holes in the condenser, causing the air conditioning system to work inefficiently, and eventually to completely stop working. Because of the high pressures in the Air Con system, damaged condensers need to be replaced rather than repaired. A regular service of your car air conditioning can help identify even the smallest leaks in time, before the condensers get too damaged, to the point where the only option is to replace them. |
