What are the risks of a faulty battery?

We know how important it is to have peace of mind when planning for your next camping, off-road or touring adventure.

Your vehicle battery,  filled with active materials such as red lead and sulfuric acid., will slowly disintegrate with every battery charge and discharge, causing it to become weak. The average life of an automotive battery is about 3 to 5 years, depending on exposure to extreme temperatures and frequent short journeys. It's therefore important to check the state of your battery as often as possible and have it tested by an auto electrician if it starts leaking or not operating 100%. It will save you the risk of being stranded in the middle of the road, especially at night.

The risks are higher with overcharged batteries - they will deteriorate more rapidly as the overcharging continues. They are also dangerous when the hydrogen they emit can mix with oxygen. Alternator and wiring problems, as well as engine computer defects can all lead to an overcharged battery.
